We will meet up, hopefully, at Lancaster railway station. This is because we are travelling from various parts of the country.
Sunday 1st.January 2012. Ken sent out an email pointing out the extreme weather forecast for the ferry crossing, suggesting that I (Adrian) should think about taking a travel pill now. Thanks, Ken. Maybe someone else should pick next years location, preferrably one that doesn't involve ships.
Day 1 - Tuesday. We all met up at Lancaster as planned. Those of us travelling from the south were being constantly updated to weather conditions. Travelling on the train from Euston on the train bound for Glasgow was being terminated at Carlisle because of high winds. Passengers for Glasgow were advised to leave this train and head for York and pick up a train to Edinburgh. This was changed when it was anounced that there were now no trains entering Scotland. The train that we were travelling on was now terminating at Penrith. At Lancaster, Ken informed us all that the afternoon ferry to the Isle of Man was cancelled, but that the night boat may sail, but we couldn't know until about 17:30 hrs.
