Diary

Day 3

Early start. After breakfast headed for Rossaveel to board the ferry to Kilronan on Aran. We were met on Aran by our tour guide for the day who pointed out the various sights of interest. The difficulty with Aran is that most tourist attractions are only accessible by foot or cycle, so we didn't see many. We did stop off at the ruins of a monastery. A very tasty Stew in Guinness was had at a cafe. On returning to the mainland, we headed back to the hotel for sandwiches and beer. It turned out to be a good day. Considering recent storms, the ferry crossing was calm in both directions.

Day 4

Day of leisure. It was decided that as we had been travelling for three days we would have a break. Some of us started the day in the pool, or went to the gym. Some did their own thing while the rest of us went into Galway and the Glass Factory outlet. Had evening dinner in The Quays and entertainment in Taaffes.

Day 5

Had a drive out today through the Connemara National Park - stunning scenery. We made a detour to Kylemore Abbey visitor Centre for midday tea/coffee. Our return journey took us along the Wild Atlantic Way road. Another detour took us to Brigit's Garden for afternoon tea/coffee and scones. Evening dinner was had at The Front Door. We were so impressed with the meal that we made a reservation for tomorrow evening. After a couple of drinks in Galway, we returned to the hotel where there was some entertainment, someone called 'Savanna'.
