The 2016 tour by a bunch of Tykes who venture to Northern Ireland.
After a good breakfast we made our way to Old Bushmills Distillery. On paying an entry fee we were each given a hot toddy, which consists of one-third whiskey topped up with water, and sugar, cinnamon snd cloves. We were then given a guided tour around the distillery. After a further sample of whiskey, in our case the 12-year old Reserve, we headed off to the Giant's Causeway. It's quite a walk to get there, but worth it. Finishing off with a tea in the Causeway Hotel, we booked a table for dinner later.
We had an excellent meal at the Causeway Hotel. On returning to Ballintoy we parked up the vehicle outdide our hotel and went into the Rope Bridge Bar across the road. What followed turned out to be a fantastic evening. We were entertained by a singer / guitarist from 10-o'clock. His name is Patsy Bradley. He was brilliant and sang non-stop for three and a half hours. Turned midnight, the barmaid delivered five pints of Guinness to our table - on the house. At 1-o'clock in the morning sandwiches, etc, were placed on every table in the bar. At 2:30am Graham, Peter and myself retired, leaving Ken and Kevin to stick it out until about 4am.
Not feeling bad considering the late night, we all turned up for, and had, breakfast. We drove down to Ballycastle and walked from the town down to the seafront and back. From here, we drove up to Portrush where we took refreshments before taking a walk round the headland. On our way back to the hotel we had a photo stop at the remains of Dunluce castle.
By the time we had finished dinner in the hotel, the Rope Bridge Bar was closed. After last night we were ready for an early night.
The Fullerton Arms is highly recommended by us. As in the previous accomodation, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and affordable, and the staff are very friendly. The food we can also recommended as high quality.
