The 2017 tour by a bunch of Tykes who venture to Malta.
It would seem that Ken made a good job organising this trip, because I departed England from Gatwick and the other six left from Manchester and we all arrived in Malta within half an our of each other.
We checked in to the hotel and later made our way to the Grand Harbour. Five of our party had a boat trip around the harbour, which I am informed was very interesting. When I find out the details I will post it here. Meanwhile Kevin and myself acquainted ourselves with a locally brewed IPA in a nearby bar. We all arrived back at the hotel within a few minutes of each other desparate to quench our thirsts. Assembly was at 7pm in the bar for aperitifs. A really good evening meal was had in the hotel, which included two carafes of wine between us. This was followed by drinks in the bar and an early night because we were all knackered.
After a breakfast of continental or full English we walked around the Sur Ta'Sant' Andrija and the Hastings Gardens, through the bus station and into the Lascaris War Rooms. After a short film we were led on a guided tour of the underground complex where the significance of Malta during WWII was explained to us. After a look in the Tourist Information Centre we had couple of beverages in the King's Own Band Club bar.
The dinner menu in the Osborne Hotel is excellent. After dinner, we walked to 'The Pub' where we had alcoholic beverages. This is the place where Oliver Reid died during the filming of Gladiator. Returning to the hotel, some of us had a 'nightcap' before retiring to bed.
