Getting About

The best way for a tourist to get around the Shetland islands is by car. We have hired a car for the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of our stay. There are a number of bus routes to some parts of the Islands, but these are limited. To travel between islands there are a number of ferries operated.

Access to and from the islands is either by sea or air. The main airport is at Sumburgh and the main ferry port is Lerwick where ferries from Aberdeen dock.
